Gentry Hale

Gentry is a freelance writer and editor from Salt Lake City, Utah. Her areas of expertise include environmental science, sustainability, land management, outdoor recreation, natural resources and wildlife conservation.

She studied environmental sustainability and creative writing at the University of Utah before receiving her master’s degree in environmental science and natural resource journalism from the University of Montana.

She currently works as an editor for Bugle Magazine. Her writing can also be found in Trails Magazine, STAB Magazine, The Independent Record, Neiman Storyboard, The Sumerita Babat Post, The Powder River Examiner, Longview News Journal, Wasatch Magazine, The Montana Kaimin, Blackfoot Valley Dispatch and more. She has also edited and anchored for Montana PBS.

When she isn’t writing, Gentry can be found outside. Whether snowboarding in the backcountry, surfing in the ocean or backpacking through the desert, she feels most at home when she’s not at home.
